'08 Precision "One Shot" Autorotation Contest!
CONGRADULATIONS TO THOSE THAT COMPETED AND TOOK HOME TROPY'S!
April 5-6, 2008
Watsonville California Airport (WVI)
Specialized Helicopters, LLC announces the first annual
Precision "One Shot" Autorotation contest on April 5th and 6th at the
Watsonville California Airport (WVI).
A common misconception in the public is that when an engine fails
in a helicopter, it will simply fall out of the sky. This is NOT true
and this contest is designed to show how safe a helicopter can be in
the event of an engine failure. The "Autorotation" contest is to show
that when an engine fails in a helicopter, it still has the ability
to maneuver and land beautifully on a precise point.
Pilot's will compete to win awards, prizes and gain valuable
helicopter flight proficiency. The 2 day event begins with classroom
and flight instruction on Saturday to allow pilots the opportunity to
enhance their
knowledge and experience in helicopter autorotation techniques
and aerodynamics. On Sunday, day 2 we will open the event up to the
public and begin the contest at 10:00AM where pilots will compete and
show just how safe a helicopter can be when the engine quits.
Helicopter pilots from all over are welcome to attend and be a
contender in our "One Shot" Autorotation contest, and anyone else who
would like to see the ability of these magnificent and safe machines
are welcome to join.
